There will be two meetings with city staff and concerned residents this Thursday and Friday to discuss the possible reclassification of land at the Rest Haven Memorial Park. Much of the southern half of the cemetery is not needed for burial plots, and for some years now the owners have been proposing to build housing on the land. If the land is reclassified for low density single-family housing, the possible expansion of the urban growth boundary for housing could be scaled back by the same number of acres. The change would also allow more kinds of housing to be built on the site.
The first meeting will be Thursday, June 27th from 4-6 pm at the Hilyard Center, with a 2nd meeting Friday, June 28th from 8:30-10 am at the Market of Choice Community Room.
