Southeast Neighbors Fall Meeting and Dessert Potluck: November 11, 2014

Please join us on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the Good Samaritan Society Meeting Room on 3500 Hilyard St for conversation, information and a dessert potluck.

Henry Soderberg from the American Red Cross Oregon Pacific Chapter and Jill Hoyenga from the Eugene Water & Electric Board are the invited speakers for the evening. They will teach us what we can do now, before the winter storms and low temperatures arrive, to protect our homes, businesses, schools and families and be safe. We will learn which emergency supplies are absolutely necessary for communication, food, safety, heating, and vehicles and make a plan for neighborhood power failures, loss of communication services, and icy roads.

We will also be collecting items on the “wish list” of the 11th Bravo Infantry of the United States Army National Guard stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan. This 21-member, Oregon-based unit is deployed as a QRF (Quick Response Force) through the holiday season and we are looking to give them some seasonal cheer. A table will be set up for drop off during the day if you can’t make the meeting. Please help spread the word.
