Fireworks Ban in Place in South Eugene

The Eugene City Council today voted to ban the use of fireworks in south Eugene.

Concerned about the threat of fire in the south part of town, including the south hills, councilors unanimously voted to prohibit the discharge of fireworks south of 18th Avenue. The ban also applies to the neighborhoods north of 18th Avenue that are east of Agate Street.

Any item which produces only smoke or ash, or makes a small noise (like a 10-inch wire core sparkler) is not considered fireworks. These items are legal for sale and use throughout the year without a permit. Visit the City’s web site for specific details.
