In 2014, the City of Eugene was awarded over $1.5M to improve conditions for people who walk and bike near Hilyard Street and Amazon Drive in South Eugene. Projects include building a two-way protected bikeway on either East or West Amazon Drive, constructing three bridges across Amazon Creek, rebuilding the entire running path (Hilyard to Martin), and extending the Amazon Path located west of Hilyard Street from 34th Avenue to Tugman Park.
In addition, the voter approved pavement bond measure included funding to resurface East and West Amazon Drive in 2017-18. The resurfacing projects include applying new pavement and rebuilding sidewalk access ramps. Timing of the pavement project will coincide with the walking and bicycling improvements described above.
To hear more about these projects, and to provide your input, please attend the Community Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 18th at 6:30pm at the Hilyard Community Center (2580 Hilyard Street). Or contact Reed Dunbar, Transportation Planner, at 541-682-5727 or email@example.com for more information.
The City will be mailing meeting notification postcards to residents adjacent to or near the improvement sites. RSVP or share on facebook.
