Aging in Community Gathering Sunday

Dear Aging in Community friend,

Join us for our first lively discussion about “Aging In Community.” Meet other people interested in topics like shared housing, adapting homes and networks for support, joining an Elders Guild or Village to Village network, and making a difference in our lives and in the lives of our friends and neighbors.  Whatever your age or idea of community, come share your stories, concerns, knowledge, and dreams about aging and doing it together.

For this, our first meeting, we’ll do a “World Cafe,” a cafe-like creative process for collaborative dialogue, sharing knowledge and creating possibilities for action.  After a brief introduction we’ll get into small groups to share what makes this topic so compelling to each of us and what we’d like to see happen in this new Eugene Aging in Community network.  We’ll mix ourselves into new dialogue groups several times during the cafe conversation.  Then we’ll gather together at the end to “harvest” what was most meaningful, useful, or interesting to each of us.  If there is time and interest, we’ll then create an opportunity for folks to connect up around shared interests.

On Sunday, February 28, we’ll be meeting in the Hilyard Community Center (2580 Hilyard Street) big room from 1pm-3pm (we will have access from 12:30 and 3:30).  The Center is ADA accessible and has a parking lot, wifi and other features you can explore (check out the video) at

If you need – or can offer – a ride or any other special assistance, contact

and she’ll do her best to coordinate.

Although we’re not trying to greatly expand our network – yet! – please feel free to bring along any friends who you think would be especially interested in this conversation.  AND PLEASE RSVP TO JEWEL so we can plan for the right number of people.

Special thanks to the Southeast Neighborhood Association for sponsoring this meeting (which Heather arranged).  Although we’re not charging for the event, we invite you (if you wish) to make a small donation to help reimburse Southeast Neighbors for what they paid to make this possible for us.

Come join us for a really interesting conversation to launch this special experiment we’ll be co-creating together!
