Upcoming Candidate Forums: City Council And Mayor


The Lane County League of Women Voters has a number of upcoming candidate forums to hear from city council and mayoral candidates. The forums will provide Lane County voters the opportunity to learn more about candidates running for several contested races in the May 17 Primary Election, including: Eugene Mayor; Eugene City Council, Ward 1; Lane County Commissioner, District 4 North Eugene; Oregon House District 14, Secretary of State, and Lane County DA. The dates, times, and locations for planned events are below.

The events are presented by: the League of Women Voters of Lane County (LWVLC),The City Club of Eugene, League of United Latin American Citizens of Lane County (LULAC), Eugene-Springfield National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), KLCC, Wayne Morse Family Farm, AARP-OR, Springfield City Club, Wildish Community Theater, and several neighborhood associations, including Jefferson-Westside Neighbors and Southeast Neighbors.

The events will follow League of Women Voters guidelines, which require at least two candidates for any forum. Stand-ins for candidates will not be accepted. Candidates will have the opportunity to give opening and closing statements, and to address questions generated by sponsors and audience members.
Campaign materials, political advertising and electioneering will not be permitted in the room where the forum is held.
Admission is free for all evening events. Attendees are asked to use public transit or the private parking area located directly across from the UO Academic Extension, Downtown Baker Center. Rates are $3-$4 depending on duration.

Candidate & measure, Voter Information:

You must be 17 years old, a US citizen, and an Oregon resident to register, and 18 years old to vote. Voters must register at least 20 days before elections to vote; forms received no later than 5pm on the 21st day before the election. Current registrants may update registration information through election day.
