Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy on Friday called for city officials to abandon a proposed rezone of the south Willamette Street area, and offered her own proposal to restart the stalled land use planning effort that a recent report found left neighbors frustrated, confused and mistrustful of City Hall. “I’m proposing we need to go back to Square One,” Piercy said. “We still have all the information we had and we still have all the work that’s been done.

SW-SAZ Candidate Forum at South Eugene High School
Ten candidates for Ward One City Councilor and Eugene Mayor will face off in the South Eugene High School cafeteria on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. The focus of the forum is on the proposed South Willamette Special Area Zone (SW-SAZ).
Enter from the south side of the building to meet the candidates beginning at 6:30; formal program begins with the Mayoral candidates at 7:00 sharp.
