Roosevelt Middle School construction has progressed rapidly throughout the school year and is now in its final stages. The new school building is on schedule to open in fall 2016. It will feature a central open-air courtyard, inside commons and classroom clusters. Science labs, a library/media center, two gyms and a theatre area complement the classroom clusters and encourage students to explore new interests.
The grand opening of the new Roosevelt will come at the start of the 2016–17 school year. Once teachers and students move into the new school, the old building will be demolished. The Eugene Family YMCA has an option to purchase that portion of the property to construct new recreation facilities.
To honor the history of the old building before students and staff move into the new one, Roosevelt Middle School is inviting current and past students, families, staff and neighbors to say goodbye to their old school building. Everyone with a connection to Roosevelt is invited to come together for a reunion and farewell celebration on June 4.
