On Monday, December 12, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. the Eugene City Council will hold public hearings and take action on the current fiscal year (FY17) First Supplemental Budget for both the City of Eugene and the Urban Renewal Agency. Members of the public are encouraged to provide their feedback on these items. The meeting will be in Harris Hall, Lane County Public Service Building, 125 East 8th Avenue.

What is a Supplemental budget?
A revised financial plan prepared to meet unexpected needs or to spend revenues not anticipated when the regular budget was adopted. It cannot be used to authorize additional taxes. [ORS 294.471].
Most local governments in Oregon must prepare and adopt an annual or biennial budget. Schools, counties, cities, rural fire protections districts, and special districts are subject to budget law. Read “Citizen overview of local budget law” for more information.
Save the Date for Basic Local Budget Law Training: February 17, 2017
A free training session is held for engaged citizens, governing body members, budget committee members, finance directors, administrators, and budget officers who participate in the budget process. The course covers local budget law basics, and state property tax laws related to preparing local government budgets.
