Emergency Minor Home Repair Program

The City of Eugene has zero interest deferred loans (fee simple property) or grants (manufactured homes titled with the State as personal property) of up to $5,000 for emergency minor home repairs. Help is available for very low-income property owners to correct conditions that create an immediate threat to the health and safety of the occupants or could cause rapid deterioration of the structure.

Accessibility Improvements

Very low-income homeowners and tenants with disabilities may be eligible for assistance with removal of architectural barriers, installation of ramps, modifications to doorways, and installation of grab bars, handrails, and lever hardware.

Eligibility Requirements

Potential program participants should verify that they meet certain requirements before submitting an application.  Eligibility requirements for the program are:

  • Applicant’s household income must fall below the maximum income for the applicable household size,
  • Property must be applicant’s residence with Lane County Assessor’s Real Market Value of less than $260,839,
  • Property must be within the Eugene city limits,
  • Repairs must be eligible types of work and limited to living space areas.

Eligible Repairs and Accessibility Improvements:

  • Failure of electrical, plumbing, or heating systems;
  • Leaking roof;
  • Basic home security measures (doors that are in operable or unable to be locked);
  • Accessibility improvements must correlate to the applicant’s disability;
  • For accessibility improvements, examples are removal of architectural barriers, installation of ramps modifications to doorways, and installation of grab bars, handrails, and lever hardware.
